Is full of things she is going to do. Namely, ev.er.y.thing. that is offered, weather she's signed up by now or not. She is convinced that she will be in band (no), orchestra (yes, she is the owner of a beautiful violin that we scored at a store called DownTown Music in Loveland, CO), swim (no), winter/fall sports girls b-ball and vollyball, etc. (no, already started), theatre (no), choir (no), student counsil (no), LISA (I don't know. We're still trying to figure this one out.) ... If Fe has her way, we'll be in three places at once every hour of every day of the week. She will NEVER stop to think about life and how she's feeling now, forget her past. I'm exhausted just thinking about it.
Today, she got a little lost and went to the wrong place, so she ended up missing breakfast. She had brought a healthy snack (Kashi protein cereal and peanuts), so she was able to live until lunch. it seems that this has triggered a BIG fear because she just can't stop this afternoon. Everything at ninety miles an hour and very disconnected. just finished her dinner plate (including all the sauce that was running on her plate) in under five minutes!
I feel so bad for the poor thing. She will surely learn her way around the school because of these things!!!
Sunshine is really doing well. There were a few bumps in the road yesterday, but today went well. We learned that she actually CAN READ!!! She loves loves loves to stand over our shoulder and try to see what we're doing now. And books? They're awesome!
She reads really well to be honest! Our five years of fighting and crying and feeling like terrible really did pay off!
Now....
Her behavior and moods are really have her therapist worried. A few months ago, she was wanting to try and remove that RAD label, but now, she's just accepting it, working with Sunshine in every possible way, and looking into alternative placements for when (not if) it comes to that, whether short or long term. We're still waiting for the TWO mental health assessments we have going on Sunshine right now. One neuro, to meet Medicaid requirements, focusses primarily on the educational side; while the other is a college student, who 1) is trying to learn to look for every.single.aspect. of mental health, educational, and behavioral issues, 2) is working with Sunshine's therapist, the other neuro, Sunshine's teachers, school psych., principal, nurse and... US(!!!), 3) is out of pocket; thus, NOT limited to what insurance is "interested in (or not)" and... 4) has a teacher/team who go over ALL of her work to look for things that have been missed, or downplayed/overplayed, and strive to get the most
We're looking forward to the adventures this year will bring with a healthy(ish) amount of anxiety and excitement.
