Sunshine has been relatively healthy.
Fe passed 7th grade with a ... 4.0 (or the weird equivalent new thereof)
Sunshine is repeating 5th grade in the school she was transferred to. This is for two reasons: we thought having her have a full fifth grade year in the same place, with the same rules and staff the same would bode well for her. Mrs. J seems to *get* Sunshine and doesn't have the wool pulled over eyes from the manipulation. The consistency and follow through are good for this kiddo. AND... the middle school she will be able to attend actually asked the principal to give them one more year to be sure they have the correct supports available for her next year. (the school, last we heard, was going through some staff and program :transitions: that Sunshine would not do well with. When the SpEd director there told us that she would be thrown right into the mainstream classes with minimum support, we started calling advocates and speaking up - a lot.)
Whenever we have to advocate for our kiddos, I feel like one of those super demanding people who makes everyone nuts. I have to be reminded that requiring they follow the IEPs is not demanding, it's the law. I still feel like a pain.
It's been three years since Sunshine was hospitalized due to CF...
Until yesterday when her pulm. doc, decided she should stay for a tune up. It'll last 7-14ish days. Starting the first day of school... She'll be in the hospital the whole two first weeks of school.
Crap. :-(
