Sunshine went into the psych "ward" on Thursday, the twelfth after throwing shows at the bus driver and being brought home by the police. When she got here, she was incredibly disrespectful and making violent threats to all of us.
GrandmaK, UncleT, and MommyM drove her to Children's Hospital and waited for five hours until they simply had to leave. (MommyM has a pressure ulcer and is not supposed to be out of bed for more than 2 hours at a time, with an equal break between.) On the way up to the hospital, Sunshine was basically being vile and singing loudly about how she couldn't wait to get a knife and stick it in someone's "ass and twist it around and watch the blood coming out, it'll be so pretty" She was also threatening to make the van crash and jump out and run away to find her "real" family... UncleT sat beside her the entire trip and wouldn't let her unbuckle or have access to any projectiles.
Last Wednesday(?) the hospital started to have a "stomach virus" going around. The second day, Sunshine said her stomach hurt too and "she was throwing up every times she ate anything" (the next day, we figured out and she admitted that that was a lie - go figure) and ended up getting herself in quarantine. They tested kiddos for c-diff and it was going around. So they tested everyone... Problem here is that Sunshine GROWS c-diff even when it's not active, bse. of her CF. She has been feeling okay; but bse. she tests positive, EVEN THOUGH IT IS NOT ACTIVE, she had to remain on isolation.
For the past week, she's been doing really well with no triggers and no stimulation. Even after we had talked to them, they were giving her TV ("it's the only thing we have for them to earn when they get their points" not my problem but I might suggest positive attention, a board game with a nurse, maybe? Go figure, right? They've had her doing basically worksheets but not "practicing" or trying anything. They mean: she's been having trouble sleeping regularly, and at least one night she got out of her room, ran the halls yelling and turned on peer's lights, waking them, but "she's doing really well"... and maybe yesterday she ran around shoving through staff and being loud...
We came in angry already bse they weren't bothering to tell us about this crap unless we specifically ask how her night went and if she went to sleep nicely.
Today, the counselors make a few fatal mistakes: told us that she "probably" could use some more treatment, told us that no residential center would take her bse of her (easy to manage with meds and treatments) CF; and next, if we wanted, CPS could get involved (please read the past years of the blog to know how the hell that's going to work) and put her in "a medical foster home" (---THAT WAS US!!!!) Where she would get the resources we need bse "[this state] takes care of it's foster kiddos".
Hmmm. How do I put this...
THAT'S HOW SHE GOT RAD IN THE FIRST FUCKING PLACE!!!
Or, thanks to MommyM's declaration of those "not being options" and "we'll deal with it ourselves", we could take her home until she has another crisis and bring her back then.
Sunshine is in her room, in her bed, under her blanket, sleeping...
