Baby Step and Good days

Last night was our second phone conversation with Big1. They called a half hour earlier than scheduled and we were just finishing up dinner with LMS. At first I was panicked ad we have not mentioned anything to LMS until we know more, but Momma T just took the phone into the other room and talked for a bit while I sat with LMS and chatted about our next movie night and how she had been doing lately. We talked a bit about her "dad" and the big feelings surrounding his absence in her life. Then it was my turn on the phone. I went and talked while Momma T sat with LMS.

Wile we were talking LMS started asking Momma T who we were talking to and why. So when I returned we told her who Big1 was, and reminded her that once you are a member of our family, you stay a member of our family, and that she needed our support. Then she wanted to know what Big1 was like and if she wore feather's and was mostly naked ( Big1 is Native American and that is what LMS thinks all Native Americans are like) so we showed her some pictures of Big1 to explain that she was just like her and wore regular clothes and spoke English, but had a different history and ancestory. LMS kept saying how she wished Big1 would come play video games with her, and we said maybe someday. Baby steps. Baby steps.

As far as the actual call, It went well Big1 is talkative and loves school and seems to be doing well. We are still waiting to hear when the hearing will be and are making preparations with positive thoughts in our mind. Please send positive thoughts our way. :)

Today we went to see Momma T's sister and our nephew. We had a great day playing and chatting and LMS made great choices. This is a big deal, because we know how hard it is for her to say goodbye to them, knowing that they are moving back to CA.

Tomorrow will be a catch up day in school. I am hoping to keep things smooth and easy. My fingers are crossed.
